About the event

This meditation workshop has been adapted to suit individual needs, and whether you are a novice or an expert, the workshop has been designed to suit all levels. Cost for workshop - £15

Many of us who practise meditation don’t realise there can be drawbacks. For example, if you understood it clearly and practised it correctly, would you be:

  • depressive?
  • exhausted?
  • lazy?
  • dissatisfied?
  • experience fluctuating emotions?
  • greedy?
  • in a cycle of problems that don’t go away?

Master Tan will guide us in developing our understanding of meditation as it is perceived by Dhammaga (a Buddhist monk in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, and Master Tan’s Master). The intention for this workshop is to help those who practise meditation discover why their meditation isn’t as effective as it could be, despite years of practice. During the workshop we’ll explore how to use meditation in our daily lives, how to deal with thinking overload, and how to recognise and avoid the downsides to meditation.

“For me the session was really helpful to highlight that meditation can be found everywhere and is not about needing to be in a room, lying down with calming music. The session outside about finding warmth when you were cold was also very good. I'm not sure where the improvement from Master Tan could come from as he provided humour and gave me lots to consider and take forward. Maybe some more ways to take it into your daily life if you were looking for more input…”
